Mithril Dice
Hello! Welcome to this section, where I explain how custom dice commissions work at Mithril Dice.
If you’ve never placed one before, here’s how it works: these are made-to-order requests where we work together to create the dice you have in mind. Since this is a handcrafted and personalized process, there are some important points you should be aware of before placing an order.
Please review my style before ordering
Every artist has their own way of working. In my case, I mainly focus on dice with liquid cores, inclusions (miniatures), and various resin effects (smoke, shattered glass, petri effects, etc.).
This doesn’t mean I can’t make other styles, but if your idea aligns with this approach, the final result is much more likely to meet your expectations.
I do not copy other artists’ work
I can recreate my own designs or work from references, but I will not directly copy another artist’s work. The goal is for your commission to have its own identity.
Everything is handmade, and that implies variation
No two dice are exactly alike. Because this is a handcrafted process, variations in color, transparency, or effects compared to a digital reference may occur.
If you are looking for an absolutely identical or industrial result, this service may not be the right fit.
Designs remain part of my catalog
Unless explicitly agreed otherwise, designs created for custom commissions may be reused or serve as inspiration for future pieces.
Unapproved pieces (such as test pours or discarded first casts) remain my property and may be finished and sold independently.
When commissions are open, you will find limited availability in my online store. Commission openings and closings are also announced on my Instagram profile.
If you are looking to commission dice that are not part of my regular catalog (different game systems, special sizes, different fonts, logos on one or more faces, etc.), inquiries should be made via direct message or email.
In these cases, we evaluate feasibility, discuss the design, provide a quote, and send a private payment link or payment details.
Commissions must be paid in full upfront.
Prices are calculated based on materials, working time, design complexity, and the number of test casts required.
If the design requires materials I do not have on hand (specific 3D prints, flowers, feathers, bones, etc.), these costs are added to the final price.
I do not offer 3D modeling services. I only work with existing STL files.
Each commission includes one free redo to make minor adjustments to the design.
If the mistake is on my end, it will be corrected at no additional cost.
From the second attempt onward, additional changes carry an extra fee, as they require new materials and additional working time:
Single dice: USD 5 to USD 10
Full sets: USD 10 to USD 15
If, after several attempts, we are unable to reach a result that satisfies both parties, we will discuss whether continuing the commission makes sense. In that case, I reserve the right to cancel it.
Payments are non-refundable, as they cover materials, tests, and work time already invested.
The only exception is if the cancellation is entirely due to my responsibility.
Single D20s: approximately 2 to 4 weeks
Full sets: approximately 4 to 8 weeks
These timeframes are estimates and may vary depending on design complexity, the number of active commissions, and order queue position. In most cases, commissions are completed sooner.
